The Loom is a 5.5-acre creative hub in Oakland, looping creative spaces, regenerative living, and unrestrained expression. The Loom is located on the site of the former California Cotton Mills, an Oakland landmark in a mixed-use industrial neighborhood. From ancestral wisdom to civil rights activism, Oakland has always been where minds collide and create. We envision empowering artists, makers, entrepreneurs, and activists, to nurture and amplify the natural and cultural diversity of the Bay Area and beyond.

We supported since 2020 the real estate developer Highbridge Equity with cultural strategy, branding, experiential design and community management.
The Loom's masterplan, created in collaboration with David Bakers Studio and Fletcher Studio, focuses on providing a diverse range of amenities that cater to various aspects of well-being and regeneration. The plan emphasizes community participation, encourages dialogue between programmers and architects, and respects the aesthetic value of historic buildings. Environmental regeneration is a key aspect, with features such as solar rooftops, water waste retention and reclamation systems, and rewilding initiatives that incorporate edible landscapes. Additionally, the plan highlights the reuse of existing materials, a zero-waste strategy, and the integration of public art.
